After all the hoopla regarding his sexist remarks, and the publishing of studies (some done right under his own nose at Harvard)that soundly trounced his remarks, Lawrence Summers is facing the music for his poor leadership in general and poor judgement in public statements. His tenure has really blighted the name of the prestigious university, and I hope future leadership can undo the damage he has done.

Volkswagon Gets Creepy
The first commercial features a couple speeding down the road, with all the car windows open. The woman wants to shut the windows, its messing her hair and she's cold. Suddenly, the man hears a voice- a voice coming from some sort of red-eyed creature somewhere in the car. It tells him to keep the windows open. He smiles in a vacant sort of way, and tells the woman to stop talking, he can't hear the engine with all her yacking. There is another commercial in which this menacing creature won't even allow the woman to get in the car. Is it me, or does this border, just a bit, on being very creepy? More like a Stephen King movie than a car commerical. maybe its justthe horror writer in me imagining things, but, I don't want to buy a car that is going to take over my mind...

From Birdshot to Potshots
Now that everyone has had a turn taking a shot at the VP, I have decided to refrain from aiming any more comments in his direction. I think that he has already become quite a target for pundits, although, in this instance, it must be said that he handed them the ammunition. There is no reason to hunt him down for this little weapon malfunction, it is a well-known fact that the press has been gunning for him anyway. Basically, this was just a couple of old friends doing shots in the woods. Perhaps, in retrospect, it was a bird-brained idea to those of us in the non-sporting professesions – but after all, this is America, what’s a little birdshot between friends?
Oh shoot. I think you might be taking this seriously….

Snowstorm Read-A-Thon
It's Carnival day, and since the entire state of New Jersey is buried by the semi-annual President's birthday blizzard (yes, it isn't the "holiday weekend" like last time, but it really was Lincoln's birthday this weekend) - so, get a cup of your favorite hot beverage, pull up your most comfy ergonomically correct computer chair to the screen, and relax with new Jersey bloggers.
